About : Message from the Dean
“Go to San Francisco State. It's the only campus that looks like the world.”—Gloria Steinem
The College of Business at San Francisco State University is located in one of the world's most dynamic and exciting business environments.
Our students, faculty and curriculum reflect the global nature of the San Francisco and Bay Area business community as well as its rich diversity.
The College of Business offers undergraduate, graduate and executive business education, providing a broad and exciting array of courses of study and concentrations in fields such as hospitality and tourism management, accounting, finance, marketing, management, entrepreneurship, international business, information systems management, decision sciences, business ethics and sustainability.
Our student body is diverse, reflecting not only the San Francisco Bay area, but also the large number of international students who choose San Francisco State University's College of Business. The university enrolls more international students than any other master's degree-granting institution in the United States and ranks 10th nationwide in undergraduate degrees awarded to Asian Americans.
The College of Business at San Francisco State is among the roughly 25% of business schools in the US and 15% internationally that are fully accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. It is ranked in the top 40 and is also ranked in the top 40 worldwide by the Aspen Institute for its integration of social and environmental stewardship into curricula and research. In the Princeton Review, the College ranked 8th in the category Greatest Opportunity for Minority Students.
We are extremely proud of our more than 100 talented and dedicated full-time faculty members with Ph.D. degrees from top US and international universities, and our more than 50 part-time faculty. In addition to teaching, faculty members contribute to the body of knowledge in the business field through research and work closely with businesses both locally and around the world.
Business touches every aspect of our lives. Schools, churches, retail stores, Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurs, hospitals, artists and writers, manufacturers, technology companies, social services agencies, government, airlines, hotels and restaurants—all are in business. A business education prepares students to be successful in whatever endeavors they choose to pursue. Business is an exciting career choice.
The College of Business can help you get where you want to be, whether you are first time freshman, a transfer student or a working professional exploring undergraduate or graduate degree options. Check it out.
Best wishes,
Nancy K. Hayes
